The Fiance Visa

So whats the deal with the fiance visa?!

	Manu
and I will be applying for a fiance visa, which will allow us to be legally
married in the US. The visa will grant Manu 90 days to come to the US and marry
me. Afterwards he can stay, work, and live with me here. No more long distance! I’ve
heard that the process can take awhile (3 months to 1 year according to other
bloggers), but hopefully Manu and I will be lucky and not have to wait too
long.

	Since
its very difficult to know exactly when we’ll receive the visa, Manu and I will
have a small wedding in Pittsburgh, Pa, with only our close family. However we
would like to have a reception in France to celebrate with our extended family
and friends later on. So the wedding will be in the US (sometime within the
year), but the party will be in France. We are hoping to have the reception in
summer of 2011, about 6 months after I will complete my degree at
Carnegie Mellon (and at which point I will have had just a taste of the real world tehe).

Perhaps we'll have to work a little harder to make this happen and maybe the ceremony and reception wont be traditional, but we're both hard workers and not really all that traditional ourselves. I hope I’ve clarified some of
the confusion floating around.

           				 Please
cross your fingers with us for a speedy visa!
